"I want to show you how he lived..."
Say what you will about Tom Cruise, this is by far a masterpiece in regards to showing us how the Samurai truly worked. The scenerey, costuming and casting really bring you into the era in a way very few movies can anymore.
It's a great movie to watch, it's a great movie to have as background noise. I've watched it a few times in the past couple of weeks.
I haven't done this segment in a while, I needed to dust off the cobwebs!

Nothing better than a popcorn movie, this one delievers in that regard. Full of special effects, mindless violence and an almost not there plot, this is a perfect back ground fill.

Enjoy!

"My name is Michael Weston and I've got a Burn Notice."
USA Network has done a good job at finding series that work well during the summer but honestly, this is a show that could make it on Prime Time without an issue. Burn Notice is a witty show that is great to have on as background noise, from the narration to the inclusion of great b movie actors (Bruce Campbell!) there isn't anything in here that a gamer could love

It's been a while since I did one of these for you guys.

If you've never seen this movie and love the gangster feel of Chicago in the 20s, then you're missing out. Hanks gives a great role and there's some great character moments in the movie. The violence is intense but justified.

A great movie to have in the background for ANY game but highly recommended if you're playing a game like GTA or a RPG.

"Throw me the Idol and I'll throw you the whip"
One of the classics of all time has finally been re-released on DVD. Raiders really made an impact on the American mind-set and left Harrison Ford to become a franchise star AND action movie man.
Fact: In the Market scene where a huge man begins to display his prowess with a sword and Indy just shoots him, it was not originally scripted to happen that way. However, Harrison was sick with the flu and didn't want to go through the trouble of the fight, so he just shot him and they kept it in the movie.

"Let's get to work."
Probably not the update you were hoping for....
This is one of the other series that keeps me going. Angel was the only spin off from the Buffy series but it was equally good in its own right. While Buffy was funny and usually light, Angel took a much darker turn and the ending of the series was incredibly dark.
An awesome series

"My name is Robert Neville and I'm a surviver living in New York..."
Matheson is the teacher of vampires, his book I Am Legend spawned so many copy cats there isn't a definitive number. Will Smith really brought it out in this movie, while some liberties were taken with the movie and how things happen, overall it was a great movie.
Anyone who likes the good survivialist movie will truly enjoy this one.
My pick of the week.

"The world is doomed..."
A throw away line that just showed how much Buffy could NOT do.
I know that I've stuck to movies up to this point but if you remember WAY back, I did tell you there would be exceptions to the Movie of the Week, this is one of them.
Joss Whedon, the creator of Buffy (as well as Angel and Firefly), has put together some character that are unforgettable. The discs have four episodes per, giving you about 3 1/2 hours of time to have background noise without having to worry about changing disks.
I have all seven seasons. I play them regularly when a movie doesn't strike my fancy. You would be remiss not to do the same.

“My Name is Alice and I worked for the Umbrella Corporation…”

I have a love of zombies. I think they are the best kind of bad guy, one that doesn’t have any kind of motivation except for the undying hunger within their bellies and minds. The Resident Evil Movies fill this gap in a way that is inexpressible to someone who hasn’t seen the movies.

They all have unending action, silly one liners and beautiful women in each and every single installment. You can’t ask for better honestly. This is a double feature, so you have two times the zombies without having to switch the DVD.

"We have spent years making them believe that we are only figments in their nightmares..."
Yes I love the B movies but sometimes you get a gem that's new and hard to pass up. 30 Days of Night falls into that category for me. Having read the comic when it came out, I couldn't wait for it to be adapted to the big screen. Some of it was changed for the big screen but for the most part it's true to the source material.
Be Warned: This is NOT a kid's movie. There is ALOT of Gore and these vamps don't dress in Silk. Strong stomachs suggested.

MotW (for 2/16/08)

“Let me tell you a story about how I almost died…”

I’m a man of faith (Notice I said FAITH and not RELIGION, different topic) and nothing tickles me more than a good movie that has some undertones that there’s more to life than just the physical plane that you see before you each and every day.

Fallen is a movie that touches on faith, belief, murder, mystery and paranoia in a way that many movies have been trying to do but utterly fail at. This is a great little creepy movie that will be intriguing to have in the background. Be warned though that if you haven’t seen it, you should probably watch it FIRST, since having it in the background is more because you’re familiar with it and know what’s going to happen, not to get freaked out in the middle of a ZA pull and then blame me because I didn’t tell you it was going to make you pee your pants! (It shouldn’t, but just a disclaimer!)

"Get away from her you BITCH!"
Who doesn't know that line? If you don't then RUN, don't walk, RUN to the nearest store that will carry this, buy it and then play it over and over again until you have the lines of the movie burned into your brain for life!
A movie that has stood the test of time. It's got action, suspense and some AWESOME one liners. Recently they released a version that carries an additional 17 minutes of play time, including some scenes that flesh out what the people on the Alien planet were living like before the attack.
A great movie to have playing in the background while you're out killing stuff.

"We aren't using the Zeed word!"

This is a classic by all means of the word. When this came out in 2004 many people that are hardcore Zombie fans were put off but now years later they see the brillance in this bit of film.

An excellent movie to just loop in the background as it has enough laughs and enough action to keep you motivated.

I promised the last part of the Balance Tree but I've got some kind of stomach bug and not up to writing. Sorry to everyone who's been reading that latest examination.

You thought I forgot didn't you?

Yes I realize there's alot of posts today but it's a good day.

This week's movie has two purposes the first obviously is because it's a great flick with fun characters, great one liners and good action. The second is to celebrate the great movies that were done by Heath Ledger who passed away this week due to unfortunate circumstances.

Go out and rent this, the soundtrack itself is worth it.

So I promised earlier this week that I would start something new for the readers. I read Big Bear Butt Blogger everyday. I love his stuff and my heart goes out to him right now with the passing of his family pet. He does something called the Raid Song of the Week, where he introduces the readers to a song that he feels gets him going when he’s raiding. I loved the idea but wanted some thing with a spin all my own to put up.

I’m not raiding much at this time, as you all know. However I do play for hours on end after the Hooved Missus goes to bed. I love music but really, I want something MORE when I’m playing so I usually play with a movie in the background. This rule does change sometimes and I’ll tell you when…eventually. For now I want to introduce you all to the Movie of the Week (Copyright infringement)!

Each week I’ll post one movie that I like to have playing in the background while hammering away at some toon of mine. There’s no rhyme or reason to it, it’s just what I feel is fun.

With that in mind I’m going way back into the eighties for one of the best B Movies made of all time, Big Trouble in Little China!

Wal-Mart has them for five bucks if you want to go out and buy one or you can go to the rental store and spend four dollars on one.
